At the Münich airport I was informed that I would not be able to get my boarding passes for my flights to Singapore and Adelaide until I got to Frankfurt.  They did charge me for extra luggage, which was 8 kilos over.  Was that the 6 bottles of Grüner Veltliner ice wine I’m taking as gifts or was it the five pairs of shoes, electronic gadgets and photo equipment?  I must learn to pack lighter!

Did you know that you need a visa for Australia? I didn’t. For a minute there, I thought I wasn’t going to be able to fly. Luckily I was able to puchase one at the Frankfurt airport. So that was 240 Euros for the extra baggage and then another 45 Euros for an Australian tourist’s visa.

I couldn’t sleep on the flight to Singapore, but Qantas offers a huge selection of movies and TV programmes on the flight.  I watched “Australia” which is a great film with some good landscape shots, a bit of Australian cultural background and history, and a very sentimental love story.  I wonder if all the Australian men look like Hugh Jackman? The film certainly got me even more in the mood for Australia than I already am.

This being my first time in the southern hemisphere, I am really curious to see if I can observe the Coriolis effect in drains throughout the Singapore airport. A silly occupation while waiting for my next flight…

Nobody did tell you about the fact you need a Visa for OZ – damn – what an organisation is that? Tough I do wonder you did not know yourself…

I had such an issue myself when i was younger and i almost did go for a stage to Sydney… but the guys in vienna embassy annulated me a visa i allready got because i was a couple of days too young… pff…

Singapore Airport is supposed to be great… have fun and take care… and send some of your lugguage back via post – will be cheaper than carrying it on board a plane

    André, my dear,
I could spend quite some time thinking about the fine line between stupidity and naivety. It would possibly be the greatest message and laugh of my life!
I didn't know that I require a visa for Oz or have a limit for how many pairs of red glass slippers and bottles of GV I may take with me on my journey.
But who cares, for here I am dancing in the thunder and rain of South Australia and i won't click my heels until I've seen Hugh!
